In the heart of the Black Mountains...

Brecon Bunkhouse lies in a hidden valley in the heart of the Black Mountains, which forms the easterly part of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. By car, the bunkhouse is 25 minutes from Brecon town, 25 minutes from Abergavenny, and 25 minutes from Hay on Wye, making it an ideal central point to access the best of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Just 3.5 hours from London, 2 hours from Birmingham, and easily accessible by train to Abergavenny station, where taxis will bring you to the bunkhouse. There are also bus routes to Brecon and Talgarth so it's possible to get pretty close on public transport although not to the door - do ask and we can advise.

Once you are at the bunkhouse, you don't need to use your car to access the best of hiking routes, mountain biking and horse riding, as well as the pub (bring your torch for the walk home!)

Our postcode and address for your sat nav is: Brecon Bunkhouse, Cwmfforest Farm, Brecon LD3 0EU. Please note, there is no sign for the bunkhouse - it's situated on the left as you drive into the farm. We are a riding centre too, so you will drive under a big sign saying 'Trans Wales Trails'. We will send you detailed information about finding us when you book with us.

For cyclists, the bunkhouse is very close to the Sustrans National Route 8 (Lon Las Cymru) which goes through Talgarth - from there it's an easy 20 minutes cycle ride to the Brecon Bunkhouse.

We're also right on a fantastic walk to Castell Dinas featured on Walking Britain, and from the bunkhouse you can easily access the best of the Brecon Beacons peaks including Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in the Park and the second highest in Wales!
