Brecon Bunkhouse is a simple, spacious bunkhouse at Cwmfforest Farm in the Black Mountains, the eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. With exclusive use, your group has the whole building to itself, and the hills start just up the road.

Midweek exclusive use is £350 per night whatever your group size, which is £12.50 per person for a full group of 28. The minimum stay midweek is just one night.

Built for Big Groups

Flexible rooms: dorms sleeping 10, 8 and 6, plus two rooms with 2 bunks each, so you can split the group sensibly and give leaders their own space.
Space to plan together: a dining room with tables and chairs for the entire group, for meals, briefings and route planning, plus a separate lounge with a wood-burning stove.
A kitchen for big groups: catering stove, cooker, microwave, large fridge, and crockery and cutlery for the whole group.
Boot room: for muddy boots and wet kit, with storage and cleaning facilities for bikes or canoes next to the bunkhouse.
Warm and dry: centrally heated and well insulated, with 3 separate toilets and 2 shower rooms.

Adventures Nearby

Hillwalking: Waun Fach (811 m) is the highest point in the Black Mountains. Walking Britain has full route details and maps for Waun Fach & Y Grib from Pengenffordd (6.5 miles, moderate) and Waun Fach from Castell Dinas (7.5 miles, moderate to hard). Both start just up the road at Pengenffordd.
Water and adventure: Black Mountain Activities runs white water canoeing and group pursuits, and Gorge Walking Wales offers gorge walking.
More to try: horse riding at Llangorse Riding Centre (around 15 minutes' drive) and trial flights at the Black Mountains Gliding Club.

Good to know: think of us as a 'camping barn' rather than a holiday cottage. The bunkhouse is basic, but it's clean, with loads of space and a warm welcome. Everyone brings their own bedding (a sheet, sleeping bag or duvet, and pillow), and there are no ladders to the top bunks, so they won't suit everyone. Abergavenny is the nearest railway station, and taxis can bring your group to the bunkhouse. If you are bringing several vehicles, please ask for parking guidance when booking.
